Supreme Commander

Ok, so I finally got to have a go at this game! The scrolling and zooming is awesome, so much easier than anything else! In fact it works in exactly the same way as the zoom in a simulation program that I’ve written, that means I’m already used to it!

The main hang up I have with it is that it runs too slowly, it starts off ok but after about half an hour it’s way too sluggish- not really sure what that means really, probably that I can’t play it properly. This beta version of the game does look good though, I want to play with the big units but I can’t keep the game going for long enough to get to them :(.

It’s a shame that the game doesn’t seem to use the dual core technology at all,

As you can see one core loaded to the max and the other’s basically just idling, this was captured when the game was running really slowly as well so it’s not even like it uses it when its needed. Now, not being funny but my simulation loads both processors so how comes a game like this ignores these advantages?

Anyway the units seem cool, very similar to TA with the different tech levels etc… I did get caught out a few times though with a power shortage, that seemed to harder to manage than the ‘mass’ as it’s called in this game. Shame you can’t save the game in the beta version, I would have liked to try and come back to it once I’ve actually done some work!

Good Hunting

Despite Bens best efforts I kept getting an error message so 2 hours worth of pissing about later I gave up.

Although from the sounds of it my computer would die.

To be honest I think it’s my graphics card, I’ve got a Radeon x550 and Radeon cards although cheaper per ounce of power tend to have more issues with games…

You can always have a go next weekend!

What was the error message?

Seems to be running fine now… On the small maps anyway…
