The D

100_2042-small.jpgTenacious D, December 19th, Hammersmith Apollo, 7pm. They were awesome, I really enjoyed this gig. The gig itself was more a show/gig really as I was expecting but it was full of jokes, visual gags and rock! One of the funny parts wasn’t anything to do with the D but a giant No Smoking sign in the venue - next to which the D has placed a smouldering volcano! The D played all the main songs and treated us to all the props and gags that we were expecting including a giant jumping mushroom as well as rocking our socks off for almost two hours.

The D were so good in fact that losing one of our train tickets didn’t even detract from the experience. And again when we got outside to discover the black sack of stuff we’d got back from the coakroom wasn’t ours it was still a great night! Even when this morning we awoke to the bright misty morning it was all good…

…hang on it’s usually dark when I take Charlie to work, 8.45! FUCK!…

…that’s only two hours late! Charlie got to work at about 9.40 this morning, but still it was a good night!

The train home was an interesting experience what with bumping into a few hundred Kasabian fans on the tube and then Cradle of Filth fans on the train back to Colchester, it was obviously a good night for music in the Capital last night.

Seriously though all those worries about the D turned out to be unfounded and even thought their new record isn’t a patch on the old one they still rocked and I’m glad that I got to see them on this whistlestop tour of the UK. When Charile gets home with the camera I’ll put some pictures up.

At least all those chickens now know that he’s being punished for eternity…

The D tonight

After the pick of destiny we’re all a tiny bit dubious as to what tonight will be like but nevertheless I’m looking forward to it! We should be heading down to London at about 5.00ish to try and get to Hammersmith by about 7.00 when the gig is meant to start - it’ll be a close call but we should make it!

I’m not sure what it’s going to be like, probably more of a show than a gig but we’ll wait and see…

Wind Farms on the horizon…

_40807587_turbines_203.jpgThe BBC website has posted a story saying that the go ahead has been given for two wind farms of the Essex and Kent coastline. Well this can only mean a step in the right environmental direction. For years we have been being promised sustainable and green power but each time the farms have had to be moved, I know that there’s bound to be environmental issues with the locations between Margate and Clacton - but let’s face it better that than propelling ourselves into the largest greenhouse in the Solar System!

Of course this only addresses a tiny part of the problem that is the UK, lots more needs to be done to ensure that we continue the move away from fossil fuels and towards green alternatives but it’s not a bad step. I think that windfarms look knida cool too. I suppose we’ll see how it ends up in a few years.

F*cking Cold!

frost-small1.jpgAfter months of mild weather and one morning that was almost frosty, I woke up this morning to find everything covered in it, and the cars covered in damn ice. I wasn’t expecting that one! Along with a heavy dose of Scotch mist it made for a cold start to the day - the ice was so thick on the bonnet that the magnetic ‘L’ plates wouldn’t even stick to the car!

So has winter finally arrived? Will we have to wear our proper winter coats now? I don’t know but I hope so, all this mild winter nonsense is boring, we want cold starts (I can say that now we own two cars that I trust to start every morning), steamy breath, hats, gloves, scarves etc… What about snow and a white Christmas? I doubt it! Oh well at least we’ve had one morning like it.

Why a month? eh?

Now I remember why I used to like waiting until things were finished on TV before I watched them.

*BSG Spoiler Warning*

Now I have to wait a month before we find out whether Adama’s going to nuke the planet, Baltars going to see the last five cylons, whether Apollo and Starbuck are actually going to do anything, whether Tyrol will find the eye, who gets rescued, who gets killed and whether the Cylons are that bothered about the baby…

*End Spoiler*
