1 out of 10 podiums just doesn’t happen!

The GP yesterday was one of those that many drivers will want to forget but for Lewis Hamilton it was just not his day. It reminded me of a couple of years ago where the same type of thing happened to Micheal Schumacher. He drove a fantastic race and ended up finishing ninth.

However Lewis did make some mistakes with the tyres and running off the track - with Jenson off in the same gravel trap I was thinking that the race would be pretty boring now as the Ferraris were looking like they were a match for anyone but the weather had other plans. Apparently Kimi would have stopped no matter the weather but without that last rain storm Massa would have won the race. I think that it will do Hamilton some good, has anyone else noticed the touch of arrogence that has crept into his demeanour? I know that it’s what we should expect from a guy that has been told he’s the best for some years but he seems to be losing the characteristic English sportsmans attitude, perhaps he’s just jesting but I have to say that it did make me think when he spoke about learning the other way when you don’t have to go up to the podium.

It was a good race in the end with lots of excitement all the way through and it’s a shame that JB spun out so early, it’s these type of conditions that he usually punches well about his weight in. Also Antony Davidson who went very well in the Super Aguri, DC also managed to get some points but I bet Webber’s podium will stick in his throat - especially after it was the teams cock up in qualifying.

Good Hunting

I’m glad Alonso apologised for berating Massa for swiping him - it was just a racing incident, nothing else - neither was to blame (if anything, it was Alonso making the move - and after his dangerous pit lane manovoure, he really hasn’t a leg to stand on).

But otherwise an excellent race (just a shame that Alonso won)

Like you I did think it did Lewis good to come down to Earth, and I think he’ll come back stronger.

Just looking at the (race) calendar - I think if Ferrari’s back one driver and finish 1-2 for the remaining races, both titles would be theirs.

Yeah I think that you’re right although I don’t think they have the pace to do that - with Lewis and Alonso on form and in the mix I think they’ll have a hard time getting the 1-2s that they want (and need). Plus Ferrari’s reliability has been worse than McLarens this year, so I think that they’ve got a lot of work to do.

Interesting that Schumacher only stuck around until Massa lost first place and that he wasn’t interested in the issues surrounding Kimi’s car. (I believe in one shot he was wearing the team radio - the one that says FM on it…)

Didn’t Schumacher leave early because he had to get changed to and present on the Podia? Although I have heard the rumours too that Kimi doesn’t want anything to do with Schumacher and that Schumacher’s involvement does lean heavily towards Massa. Incidentally, do you think Alonso would have got past if that was Schumacher driving!? And didn’t Hamilton’s driving style - cutting through the pack look just like typical Schumacher manoeuvres (which is a good thing!!)

If Ferrari can address their reliability, then the season will turn itself upside down.

Must have missed that bit of the commentry! He did present the constructors trophy to Ron - I bet that was comfortable!

I thought that Hamilton was going to be on for a point a one stage but he was so close, there were so many what could have beens though - perhaps he’ll have had all of his bad luck in this one race!

As for Ferrari, you’re right if their reliability improves then I can see the final few races being very very close - lets see what Hungry holds…

I think Hamilton’s a smug bastard but for good reason. As you said he needed a kick in the arse. Still he’s British and he’s good at something so we can’t can’t complain.
