“A person is a person, not matter how small”
Just went to see Horton Hears a who, it’s another Dr Seuss film and in my opinion the best by far. It’s a roller coaster ride of fun and laughs and though it does convey it’s moral message there’s no preaching.
There’s plenty of laughs with both quick witted quips and slapstick humor worthy of Jim Carrey in the flesh. I had a great time watching it!

Recent Films…
Over the last few weeks I’ve seen several films and thought that I’d cast my brief views on them.
Harry Potter
I enjoyed the film, albeit whilst being a bit confused for part of it. I’ve never read the book so some of the characters are a bit confusing but it flowed nicely and I thought it kept the story going. It did suffer from what I like to call the Two Towers Syndrome (or TTS for Ian) where it’s got no real start or end but I’ll watch the next one when it comes out.

Eragon
For some reason I’ve wanted to see this film for a while - I like John Malkovich and Jeremy Irons but they are underused and the film is paper thin. Apart from that there are some good action sequences and scenery plus the effects are good. It never quite captures the epicness of LOTR though. Considering what it actually is though it’s not awful.
****……
Transformers
How dissapointed was I. Apart from the effects it is very very bad. That’s about all I can muster the effort to say, I was bored about half way through- there’s no way I should have been bored during transformers. The first half is kinda cheesy fun with some really cool action shots but after that it just starts to get dull.

I am one of those people who laugh a Jim Carrey and I was intrigued to see him in a straight role, he pulls of off really well and the film never quite puts you down for the whole length, it’s not really fast paced or anything it just keeps you watching - I really enjoyed it - a good selection for Love Film!

Spidermans predictable but undeserved rise
Spiderman 3 seems to keep going http:// news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/ entertainment/6652237.stm, its made $60m in the US apparently. Not bad for a film thats not actually that great - but then I’ve seen it so why would the studios know any different.
If Spiderman can make this much money what the hell is pirates going to do? The last Pirates film made stupid amounts of cash and I can’t see how the third installment is going to be any different. Shrek 3 will make a lot too although I don’t think it will generate the same income as the other two. Perhaps Harry Potter can upstage them but I’m not so sure!
I agree with what Ian and Andi have said about Spiderman, it’s kind of a nothing film as you don’t really get into the characters. Now I heard Campea from the movie blog go on about this before but why would the people who make the films change the way they do it? They make so much money from these blockbusters that it’s not important to them to make the film that good - bums on seats as they say. How do people get that message across? No idea.

Looking forward to Films…
This summer promises to be a good one for film - well for films that I’m interested in anyway! Spiderman 3 is out soon and although it’s had some mixed reports I’m still looking forward to seeing it. Ian and me are going to see it next Friday (4th) so I’ll have to wait until then.
As part of the big trilogy there is also Pirates three, personally I can’t wait for this as for some reason I really love the world and the disney action! There’s also Shrek 3 which I am looking forward to but I’m just a bit worried about how they can keep shrek going for another film - but then I said that about the second one and I think I like that more than the first!
Another film that is going to be awesome is the Transformers film, this is going to be sooo good, everytime I see the Citroen or Nissian(?) adverts I can’t help but think how good the film is going to be - and with Micheal Bay directing it should be full of action sequences… …of course it could also be the most dissapointing of them all.
Anyway these may not be the pinicle of cinema nor the most critically aclaimed films when they come out but they are going to make a hell of a lot of money $$$$$$$$. Can you believe the second pirates film made over $1 billion worldwide!
Anyway I’m sure that there are some other films out there too.

Children of Men
Charlotte and I finally managed to get Children of Men from LoveFilm the other day and as we’ve been looking forward to it for ages we watched it straight away. To be honest I was really disapointed. It’s probably because we’d built the film up but the premise sounds really interesting - no children have been born for 18 years and the world has gone a bit mad…
I was expecting some kind of polictical arguments and with the plot involving an activist group I thought that there would be some explanation of why they we’re doing what they were doing. But it basically turned out to be an action film based around Clive Owen trying to save various different people.
